ModScan Privacy Notice
ModScan is a local command-line tool from Kaizōsha. This notice describes the behavior found in the current published ModScan 1.0.1 source. Kaizōsha's website has a separate privacy policy for visits to this website.
DATA COLLECTED BY KAIZŌSHA
ModScan 1.0.1 has no account, advertising, analytics, tracking, crash-report upload, cloud-sync service, or runtime network-request code. Kaizōsha does not receive filesystem paths, project names, directory sizes, modification dates, scan results, or deletion activity through ModScan.
ModScan does not sell or share scan data with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers.
LOCAL FILESYSTEM ACCESS
A default scan recursively inspects the current working directory. A --global scan inspects the home folder, common development locations, and available Windows drives while skipping inaccessible, hidden, cache, and selected system paths.
ModScan reads file and directory metadata to calculate size and modification age. It reads a parent project's package.json file to obtain the project name shown in the terminal. This processing happens in the local Node.js process.
SESSION STATE
Scan results, filter state, sort state, and the running total of freed space are held in memory for the current terminal session. The current release does not create a scan database or upload scan results.
Closing ModScan ends that in-memory session. ModScan does not provide an account or cross-device synchronization.
PERMANENT DELETION
The deleted directory's former size is added to the in-memory freed-space total. ModScan does not send the selected path or deletion result to Kaizōsha.
INSTALLATION AND NETWORK ACTIVITY
The ModScan runtime itself does not make network requests. Installing or launching ModScan through npm or npx requires npm to retrieve the package and is governed by npm's own terms, configuration, and privacy practices.
Links opened from this product website are handled by the destination website and browser, not by the ModScan command-line runtime.
PRODUCT WEBSITE
This notice covers the ModScan command-line tool, not visits to modscan.kaizosha.org or kaizosha.org. Website visits are governed by the Kaizōsha website privacy policy.
CHANGES AND CONTACT
If ModScan's data practices change, this notice will be updated to describe the changed release.
Questions about ModScan privacy can be sent through the Kaizōsha contact page: https://kaizosha.org/contact.
